Running W Evangeline is a coming 5-year-old red cow out of Running W Eva, sired by Double LL Elliot 2. Evangeline’s pedigree is filled with notable herds, including Who’s Hill, Wurzbach Farms (OSF), Vantage Point, Bo Croft, Double LL, LEA-White, GH, Twinflower, and Trafalgar. The herds have boasted successful cattle both in the show pen and out in a production herd. Although Evangeline has never shown, she has already made us happy with her work as a brood cow. She had her first heifer calf, Running W Everest, just a day before turning three years old, and her second heifer calf, Running W Eiffel, just under a year later; both breedings were natural service out in the pasture. Her dam, Running W Eva, has become the matriarch of the farm, always calving consistently, and needing no assistance in delivering or raising her calves. She has passed this down to her daughters, three of which, including Evangeline, have gone on to have calves with us, without needing any assistance at any point this far. Evangeline’s oldest sibling, a full sister to her, Running W Golden Poppie, has become a farm favorite, with amazing conformation, udder structure, and a phenomenal temperament to go with it. Poppie was named Grand Champion Cow/Calf pair at the Kent County Fair in 2024, and the Junior show Grand Champion Cow/Calf pair at the Southern Highland Cattle Association Spring Classic 2026. Like Poppie, Evangeline also has a friendly demeanor; she will take treats from hand and enjoys being brushed. She has never been halter trained, but it is easy to work with and does not cause any issues in our herd. Evangeline’s sire, Double LL Elliot 2, also played a large role in passing down a great temperament to his calves. Elliot never had any issue servicing 20+ cows in our herd each year, and passed down his amazing temperament, large frame size, and wonderful length of side to his calves. Evangeline herself is one of our tallest cows in the herd, only being beaten by another full sister of hers, Running W Eda. Evangeline boasts not only height, but nice length of side, balanced topline, and a very nice udder with small teats that are easy for calves to nurse on. We landed on selling Evangeline as we already have kept two full sisters of hers, and are keeping calves out of each of those cows this year, showing the faith we have in this maternal line in our program and any other herd.
