Description: heifer
REG #: 72567
COLOR: Red
DESCRIPTION: This young heifer brings length, good feet and and outgoing personality to your farm. Her dam is a long tank of a cow and I expect Reeces to follow in her foot steps. Her long middle section catches the eye, but her rib spring is substantial. She's built with a lot of functionality for hilly terrain with correct leg structure. With EZ Acres Kyle, DH Churchill, Sky High Cornerstone, and Skye High Gibraltar in her pedigree I would expect some beef qualities in her steers as well as some feminine heifers. All my stock are forage raised. No creep or supplemental feed. Reeces has been the easiest to halter train of all of my calf crop. She's a smart heifer. She is red, but is acquiring dark hair around her lips. She may grow into a black muzzle ring. Bangs vaccinated, BVD-PI neg, NT821 neg. DESCRIPTION: COPA Farms is proud to offer CPF Ricochet. Ricki’s pedigree is packed with functional, maternal traits and longevity. She is built right from the ground up with great hoof, leg and hip structure, nice depth and spring of rib, exceptional udder and a feminine head and neck. To top it off, Ricki has an excellent disposition. She is confident without being pushy and enjoys human interaction. She has been hands down our easiest calf to work with whether it be halter training or in the chute for tattoos and vaccines. She is well started on halter and wouldn’t take much work to get her show ready. Ricki’s dam, SKM Lucy, is a fun cross of PNW genetics. She has several farms that we value in our pedigrees including Five Star, Flathead and Valhalla. Ricki is Lucy’s first calf and she had a textbook delivery and had Ricki up and nursing within 30 minutes. Lucy’s maternal traits were passed down from her dam, Rustler’s Bestla. Bestla had her last calf at 18 years old, still sporting an excellent udder and maintenance free hooves. We have another cow in our herd that is closely related to Bestla that will be 17 this year and is our herd matriarch. Longevity is in Ricki’s genes, but it doesn’t stop at her dams side. Ricki is sired by our up-and-coming bull, Gus of Flatland Farm. This is our first calf crop from Gus and we have been impressed so far. His calves are very vigorous and come out ready to take on the world. They are inheriting his correct hoof, leg and hip structure, his excellent depth of rib and a confidence that makes them fun to work with. Gus is sired by EZ Acres Kyle, who needs no introduction so we will focus on the females in his pedigree. Starting with his maternal granddam, Almosta Farm’s Britt. Britt is an impact dam and has calved each consecutive year for a total of 12 calves. Britt has been a driving force for Flatland Farm who has retained 5 of her heifer calves to build their program. One of those females is Gavina of Flatland Farm, Gus’s dam. Gavina is also an impact dam and has calved every year including her 10th calf earlier this year. Gavina is sired by Skye High Wayward Son who has had a significant impact on the breed with many productive progeny. With her lineage and conformation, Ricki should make an efficient and productive heifer that will fit into any program. We are a forage-based system so Ricki has been raised on grass, local haylage, minerals and good old PNW (liquid) sunshine. Fully vaccinated and boosted including bangs and nt821 negative through parent testing. Ricki is a moderate heifer and we expect she will mature around 900 pounds. As you can see from her current pictures and video, Ricki is ready for summer and has shed most of her winter coat. Not to worry, she grows a luscious, blond coat in the winter and is not prone to pests or skin irritations like some of her highland counterparts. While we expect Ricki will excel anywhere in the country we are offering free delivery if her final destination is within 500 miles of our farm as an incentive to PNW buyers. DESCRIPTION: If you've been looking for a stout Basswood of Swains daughter here she is. Rain brings a lot of rib and width in the pelvis to a breeding program. She has good feet, leg structure and a friendly temperament. Her dam milks well and weans out big calves even from bulls like Basswood that don't have growthy calves. Rain weaned out at 485 pounds in a drought. She should mature around 1000 pounds. I expect Rain to milk well. Her cow line not only milks well, but they're pretty cows when they mature. Not only is she sired by Basswood of Swains, but her grandsire is Sunset Braveheart. She brings functional maternal traits with some style! Bangs vaccinated, BVD-PI negative, NT821 negative. DESCRIPTION: Good Golly Miss Molly! Molly is a unique looking 2-year-old silver heifer with some great old school genetics on both her Sire & Dam sides including an infusion of Canadian breeders Glen Osprey Farms & Swains. Honestly, it’s a fun trip researching her lineage. Molly made her debut last year at the Oregon State Fair and while she placed third in class, she placed first in the hearts of visitors! Molly won the hearts of more people than I could count that week and made dreams come true for folks of all ages who wanted to touch and love on a real-life hairy coo. Molly is the Golden Retriever personality, in your back pocket type of Highland that is social, photogenic and comfortable with up-close and personal handling. Outside of her personality, she has a unique “woolly” appearance, and I swear some days when I look at her, she is smiling. Molly is slow growing and will be on the smaller side. She would excel in programs that promote agritourism, venues & photographic settings. Of course, she would also do well in your breeding program with an appropriately sized bull.
